The High Spirited and Proud Taiwanese Americans of Greater LA and OC United Invite Our Friends, Local Community, and Civic Partners to Celebrate the 15th Annual Taiwanese American Heritage Week

Rosemead, CA - Over fifty Taiwanese American affiliated associations invite the public, local communities, friends and civic partners of the Taiwanese American community to experience, celebrate, and learn about the Taiwanese American culture, heritage, and community through festivities in the month of May. The heritage week committee has lined up many events to represent goodwill, understanding, the human spirit and cultural-heritage exchanges.

Events include but not limited to Los Angeles River Clean Up (in association with Friends of the Los Angeles River) at Compton Creek, Karaoke Contests, Health Fairs, Art Exhibitions, Flower Arrangements, Lectures about the history of the Taiwanese (Hoklo) Language, as well as the  Grand Daddy 15th Annual Taiwanese American Heritage Week (TAHW) Festival on May 19th at Barnes Park Memorial Bowl in the city of Monterey Park. The TAHW Festival admission is free, however, in order to purchase the festival foods, attendees must purchase a sheet of tickets in ten-dollar increments at designated exchange kiosks. Each sheet of tickets include a raffle ticket used for a chance to win round trip tickets to Taiwan as well as sports memorabilia signed by athletes such as Jeremy Lin and Chien-Ming Wang. Come experience Taiwanese culinary specialties such as the quintessential ‘Ba-wan,’ Tainan Peddler Noodle, Taiwanese Savory Griddle Cake, Stinky Tofu , Little Sausage Stuffed in Bigger Sausage and more! There will be many local performances such as UCLA’s Taiwanese American Union (TAU) A Cappella group, violin and cello duet from Albert Chang (sleightlymusical on YouTube) and Kevin Chung, and local performances associated with the Taiwan Center of Greater Los Angeles. As a special treat, the local Taiwanese American communities, Friends of Taiwan, and the Taiwanese government have invited rock-star status cultural heritage performances such as Wu-an Taiwanese Opera Troupe, Yuanlin New Paradise Hand Puppet Troupe, and the Taipei Folk Dance Theatre straight from Taiwan!
